The Story
Two-sided Eri silk dupatta embracing Kanchipuram silk with Zari

Raabta combines cow dung dyed Eri Silk that is handspun and woven on a throw shuttle loom in rural Assam with a subtle check pattern weave and Zari panels in Kanchipuram silk. To accentuate this combination of textiles, I contrasted orange Kanchipuram silk with gentle olive hues of Eri silk, keeping the panels consistent on either side. The dual-sided dupatta creates a festive contrast of colours while revealing an interesting geometry.

Raabta is a one-of-a-kind textile designed to highlight a unique coming together of various techniques and creativity of handcraft. This design will not be recreated.
